Day 2 - Tongue to Carbisdale - 48 miles

The day started with two things: a huge breakfast, followed by a huge climb. The weather started off well again as we climbed out past Ben Loyal and some Lochs on our way to Altnaharra. The roads were perfect again - we couldn't believe our luck. From Altnaharra we continued to Lairg for second lunch at a great cafe near the Loch, and then continued down towards Invershin

As we pedalled on, the rain came back, and we began to worry that we'd missed our turning. We pressed on though, and eventually saw the viaduct which would take us across the Kyle of Sutherland to Carbisdale Castle.

This castle really does have to be seen to be believed, especially as it is a youth hostel! I'll let the pictures do the talking...
