Day 6 - Lochranza to Loch Ken - 80 miles

Being on an island, the only way to the mainland is by ferry. Unfortunately for us, this meant waking up at 5am, packing up the tent in the rain and cycling round Arran to Brodick, in order to catch the 8:20 ferry to the mainland. The roads started off badly - rough and with a big climb - but soon we reached the coastal road and had a smooth, scenic and quiet 10 miles to Brodick, where we grabbed a much needed bite to eat at the local bakery

Soon we were back on the mainland and getting lost, trying to find our way through Troon and Prestwick to Ayr. We got there in the end, and we were glad to leave the towns and cities. Then all that remained was 40 miles on the A713, which took us through Dumfries and Galloway to Loch Ken, where we would be camping.

Arriving at the campsite, we were put up our already soaked tent and enjoyed the sunshine at another great campsite
